Mini First Aid offers classes for parents, grandparents and carers of babies and children. The 2 hour class covered CPR, choking, bumps, burns, breaks, bleeding, febrile seizures and Meningitis awareness. They also offer Paediatric First Aid qualification courses and classes for children. We were lucky to have a baby sitter for the evening, but pre crawling babies are welcome and Ruth also offers a range of both morning and evening classes during the weekdays and at weekends.
I took my husband along with me as it made sense for us both to learn potential life saving skills and be armed with knowledge of what to do if any child in our care was to need First Aid. The venue was comfortable and convenient for our location with plenty of free parking and most importantly tea and coffee making facilities! We was in a class with 6 other parents which was a nice small group to enable us to get through the topics easily and we all had time to get hands on and ask any questions.
Ruth, a Mum herself who has a background in General Nursing, Health Visiting and most recently Chid Minding, was a perfect tutor. She had a vast catalogue of experience and put us all at ease with what could be deemed as quite shocking topics.

Without doubt, I left the class feeling confident that I would be able to make a difference should I need to put any of the things I learnt into practice. It could potential be the most important 2 hours of my life I have spent if it was to save a life in the future.
